Family

We are deeply rooted in California farming strawberries. We work side by side with our employees just like the three generations of Jones farming on this ground before us.  Our passion and commitment is unwavering and we appreciate our staff on the farm and in the office, with many employed for more than 40 years.  We value every staff member’s commitment to us, our company, and respect and care for them like family.

Community

We care deeply for those we live and work with and support many organizations where we farm. We are passionate about supporting initiatives that focus on building health and fitness programs for youth. We support local school lunch programs and other organizations that provide children with access to fresh fruits and vegetables and team sports that help shape their future.

The Jones family also established an annual scholarship program in 2022 to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the company in honor of their grandparents.  The goal of the Bobalu Berry Farms Scholarship Program is to help Oxnard and Santa Maria, CA area graduating high school seniors further their educational and career goals. Funds awarded each year can be applied toward a scholastic or vocational program.

Quality

100% of Bobalu strawberries are hand-picked and packed on our ranches.
We feel it is our job to feed the planet and do it in a sustainable way. Having an in-house processing plant is crucial to achieve the goal. While picking fresh market berries in the field, only about 80% of the strawberries meet our high-quality standards, the rest are diverted to processing through our culling program so none of our berries go to waste.  Those berries that are diverted to processing where they will be frozen, also receive the same quality and care to ensure satisfaction by our buyers and the consumer.

Our vertical integration allows us to ensure consistency in every package, so every tray receives the same care and inspection providing the best results for you and your customer.

Our passion extends well beyond growing berries. We are passionate about supporting our community, and specifically initiatives that provide health, nutrition and fitness programs to kids.

We are proud to continually support local non-profits that provide critical funding to youth educational and sports programs, and organizations providing healthy fresh produce to families in need.

We are proud to support local youth sports programs every year by sponsoring various teams throughout the communities where we farm. Physical fitness in addition to a nutritious diet, including our berries, help kids achieve a healthy lifestyle.
We were honored to work with the Oxnard School District during the COVID-19 crisis delivering fresh produce to elementary schools each week during the school year.
Ventura County Farm Day is an annual event hosted by SEEAG.org that provides a window into what farming is all about and features on-farm tours and educational programs.
Food Share Ventura County is a member of Feeding America, the nations largest hunger relief organization. We support their efforts as they provide millions of meals and fresh food distribution annually to families in need.
Our staff supports and participates in the annual Ventura County Can Tree Food Drive to benefit those in need during the holiday season
