Crop Update

It appears as if Spring might actually be arriving in southern California.  We are seeing our fields really pick up on volume this week and looking into next week here in Oxnard.  Yield per acre is increasing, and size, color and flavor are excellent.

Our daytime temps here are in the high 60’s – low 70’s and night time temps are optimal in the high 40’s, low 50’s.  All of this good news is being very well received and we hope these conditions stick around for a bit this time.  If it all stays on track, we should have promotable volume for Easter and all the way through Spring.

Santa Maria is also looking really good with some ranches harvesting now, and our west side ranches will be ready by the end of this month to add to our daily volume and demand.  As you can see from the photos, this is a very different picture than our previous photos and reports.

Now we look forward to our trading partners kicking off spring promotions, and putting our strawberries front and center in the produce department.  As the weather across the country improves, consumers also shift their shopping behavior and include more Spring strawberries into their carts every week.  We look forward to repeat purchases all season long.
