Fall Crop California:
We are well into our fall season here in both Santa Maria and Oxnard. At this point, Santa Maria is just past the peak but weekly volume is holding steady. Oxnard is expected to peak in the next couple of weeks with sustained volume expected into December.
As with the entire 2023, we are still dealing with weather issues that include some sun, a little wind, fog and drizzle. Santa Maria is experiencing more of the fog and damp conditions, so our QC team is working closely with harvest crews on each ranch to ensure best quality in every pack. The fruit still looks and tastes great. Weather is mild and sunny in Oxnard keeping us on track in this region for the upcoming peak. We shared our Salma variety berries at the recent IFPA convention in Anaheim and they were very well received by all of the ‘tasters’ that visited our booth.
Mexico
Volume in starting to pick up in all of our central Mexico regions . We are pleased with the early quality and the mild weather despite some of the storms hitting parts of Mexico at this time of the year. Size, color and quality is looking very nice and we expect to start bringing increased volume into the U.S. starting next week.
