October berries are here!

Santa Maria Update

October berries are here! The plants look great and there is a load of bloom and green fruit in every field. Our staggered planting dates will result in a nice long and even peak over the next several weeks.

We spent a lot of time in the fields this week throughout Santa Maria assessing what is ahead and we all tasted berries along the way (including all of these in my hand). As you can see, the sun finally came out here as the fog has been burning off early giving us plenty of warm daylight hours to ripen up the fruit. As we move forward, we should see daily volume increasing based on what we are seeing.

We have included more photos than usual so you can see various stages of the plants and fields here in Santa Maria. Weather should remain mild for the next week or so to help bring on this new crop.

Labor is still tight but we are staying on our regular harvest rotation and remain optimistic that we will retain our employees throughout the rest of the season.

Oxnard Update

By this time next week these fields will be planted. We begin planting today in Oxnard for our 2022 season and will keep you up to date on how things will progress and timing for new crop berries out of this district.
