Rain Was Short Term Disruption

Berries

Harvest after the Rain

We did get some much needed rain last weekend, but thankfully got back into strawberry growing weather quickly with nice mild temps and light winds to dry everything out.  These berries above were harvested on Tuesday morning and we continued to harvest all week working through any damage with our QC team to ensure we only packed fruit with great quality and flavor.  Weather for the next week looks favorable with mild daytime temps in the 60’s and 70’s with night time temps remaining in the 40’s.

Outlook Ahead

We are also in the midst of planting here in Santa Maria as we prepare for Spring 2022.  We are increasing our acreage for 2022 in this region with staggered plantings for the spring crop and the fall crop to ensure a long season that will compliment early volume from Oxnard.  Our sales team was in the field this week so we put them to work on the planting crew!  Thankfully we have skilled employees to get this job done and we sent the sales group back to the office.
